I have recently purchased two pieces off ebay that were advertised vaguely as Rumph pieces, one definately is not, but may have been allowed by Jim from what I've read, the other doesn't appear to be either and is unmarked. I don't really mind because the pieces fit with my collection but you do have to be careful.

I have collected pictures of Rumph fakes that I will be posting on the site soon. BTW, which pieces did you get that were so-called Rumphs?

a set of salt and pepper shakers...., Ebay item #3232863275, the pictures are still up there, the seller insists they are Jim's, the wife says no way I say maybe, but they aren't marked at all. A reversed dirty bird, inside the mug is a troll waiting to be fed. Made in Japan could easily have been Jims design. I couldn't stay up late enough last night ot get the Lionstone piece terrystoyhouse had up this week, guess I should have just used the "buy it now" Oh Well maybe next time!

Sorry to say this, but there is no way those shakers are Rumph. And the reverse Dirty Bird is probably a Grumpy's mug, which is not Rumph but they try to be. As far as the Lionstone, my personal opinion is that I don't think it is Rumph. It could be, but I don't think it is.

Your right on the reverse dirty bird it is Grumpy's, sold as Rumph.....I did know that ahead of time though! The Salt and Pepper shakers remind me of an artist who's work I've seen in the past but I can't put a name to them. The lionstone whiskey thing......I have two lion tattoos and counting, I'm a Leo and we collect a lot of lions so, Damn I'm glad I didn't win that auction! I was only going to bid $50.00 on the chance it was a Rumph piece, but I ran it up over $110.00 before I got out, so like I said "I'm Glad I didn't win that one!"
I just rediscovered Jim's work last year and I figured with a name like Rumpff (mine not his), I should start collecting Jim's pieces before I can't afford them, not that I can now but they are only going up.
This is a great we sight! Thank You!
Oh Yeah and being that I am an artist, to find that there is a Great artist with a name like Rumph gave me a big confidence boost, not too big though!

I think the Lionstone piece is RUMPH. I was told that he made this piece first for them with no signature. On his other lionstone figures (BOGART&W.C.FIELDS) he left his mark. I also think that the selling price was reasonable and is close to what I paid for him. I bet you will not see another one for awhile.I have several Grumpy pieces as well and they are tough to find even though they are not quite up to Jims quality. TERRY
