Hello All! I've been intensely monitoring the sale of everything Rumph on Ebay for over a year now and while the list of what has come and gone on Ebay is pretty extensive, I have noticed a trend. Many of the pieces are being bought up by people who value them only for profit making! Now don't get me wrong, I think that making money is great but there are some things that should still only be shared among those in the know! When I look at my growing collection I don't see what I paid for each piece and I don't see what I would want to get for them if I ever sold them! All I can see are trails of awesome imagination from a man who was plugged right in to a pulse that is growing weaker in today's culture.
I just want to say for the record that any pieces that are offered up for sale through this site to me would be loved until the day I died and then offered back to people who would love them and so on......
Call me crazy but I just really need for somethings to be sacred again! I really hope that there are some like minded collectors out there who would share their thoughts.
Cheers! - Beesknees

You said a mouthful, brother (or sister). eBay is full of pitfalls. But it's the best place to buy -- for now. I'm not a speculator. I'm a new collector. I want to collect this stuff for the simple joy of beholding it up close and personal -- and all that "imagination trails" stuff you mentioned. Maybe one day I will have "surplus" in my collection -- or I will outgrow it. (Is that even possible?) If I do, I'll look to sell it here -- to other people who want the items for keeps, not for an investment.
I, too, encourage others to considering selling via a Rumph community instead of an eBay community.

Aye for the sacred! there beesknees9.
Sadly the motivation to sell is usually driven by desire for profits, though for many the appreciate is much more valuable thank God. Great to see your spirit.

I have used my mind circus wizards since 1975, I'll be 60 in Jan 08 and I had to become a capitalist, I mean come on, look at our planet now! There isn't enough money to take this choctaw grandmothers pipe away. Thank you beesknees9 for reminding me of Rumph. A good man and a fine visionary.

It's to bad that beesknees has spoke the truth, not much cooperation in the Rumph community. Seems like you're either a competiter or a customer not a comrade. Her, on the other hand, is a true collector and I bought a great peice from her through this web page. It is nice to see that she hit a nerve though, maybe there is hope. LOL Beeknees (I've forgotten your real name, touch of Alzeimers I think)

I totally agree with everything that's been said in this thread so far. I hate having to resort to ebay to fill the gaps in my collection, but that's the best place to find most of them. i do however enjoy (sort of) seeing and bidding against people i recognize from these boards gdogg, flabum, etc. At least i know i'm bidding against people who actually want and appreciate these pieces for the genuine enjoyment that it gives them. i have however noticed a couple ebayers who have been buying a lot of pieces only to turn around and resell them in hopes of turning a quick profit. @$$holes in my opinion! By the way, Ralph, I noticed i missed your call. I should be around the same time again tomorrow. (4/4) Hopefully i'll have my phone with me this time!

Hello all....totally agree with jedichef,it seams like these days we have to fall back on ebay for our Rumphs...I myself would rather deal with my fellow Rumph family then take a chanch of getting riped off on ebay!

Well, I have bought almost all on Ebay. Easiest place to find stuff is why. I remember getting Rumph stuff as gifts when my buddy worked for Jim. I wished I had asked for more of them rather then bitching about my buddy being a cheapskate...
Ebay has grown my stuff to over 50 pieces, Orcs Ears, Planters, stuff I never see for sale here...I don't keep track of prices on the small stuff like squatting gremlin mugs, just the big stuff to get my cover story ready for my wife!

I'M NEW HERE AND I'LL TRY TO GIVE BACK. I LIKE TO THINK OF MYSELF OF A "GRASSROOTS" SORT. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY OTHER PLACES BUT EBAY & HERE TO PURCHASE. I REALLY LIKE THE IDEA THIS SITE OFFERS A TRADE SECTION TOO. CAPITALISM IS A HUGE MOTIVATOR i.e. "OPERATION BLOOD FOR OIL." I AM A COLLECTOR & FEEL THIS FORUM IS A STELLAR WAY TO GREATEN AND EXPAND SOMETHING i VALUE ... WHILE CELEBRATING ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY. THANKS FOR OPENING THIS SITE ~ WHOM EVER U R!
