This is the story of the mustard seed. I have a clear resin ball about the size of a marble with a little mustard seed in the middle. I got it from Jim years ago and somehow we got to talking about the mustard seed, his mother, and the verse in the Bible that goes with the mustard seed..."If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed you will be able to say to that mountain, move here or move there"... I still have the mustard seed so maybe I'll get it out and wear it one day soon! Hope you enjoyed the story! P.S. The verse is in the Gospel of Matthew.

Alright, so it looks like no one’s added anything to this in a long time, but I’ll throw in my remembrances anyways. I met Jim, like most people probably, at the Agoura Renaissance Faire. This was an annual event for us and cause for much merry making, almost like getting ready for a dead show! Jim’s booth, was a “must stop” for a souvenir every time. (that and the place with the cool, custom fit viking moccasins, but I could never afford those) Anyways, Jim’s booth was kind of on the way in or out, so I’d stop and see what he had on the way in and chat a little before I got tanked up, and pick something up on the way out to take home. I’m an artist also and immediately saw our similar attractions to the bizarre. MAD, Creepy, Famous Monsters, comics, Heavy Metal, etc., etc., still love it all and I know Jim would too. He was definitely in the spirit of things with his masks and cod pieces! His enthusiasm was clear, and an inspiration to me. Really wish I could have connected with the Slyme Factory (and actually lived in Venice at the time, but didn’t happen) After quite a few visits to the faire, I had accumulated a pretty good collection. Then, the faire moved (and was never the same) Went once to S.B. but it didn’t work for me. That was the last I ever saw of the Rumph. My life at the time was changing too. Got married to a woman that thought most of my treasured items were creepy, or satanic, or something, and little by little, were relegated to the attic. Time passed and I didn’t really give it much thought. A nasty divorce finished most of that part of my life off, not sure what ever happened to a lot of my stuff. But, my life goes in cycles, and I usually come back to the stuff I love. Anyways, don’t know why but I googled Rumph and found this site. Great resource, by the way, and kind of rekindled my interest. I’ve made a few ebay purchases, just to have a few pieces around, but it’s really a shame the old ones are gone. All told at one point I had 3 of the planters (I can attest that strange things do grow out of those, at least back in the day!) Several tankards, Rumph coasters, RF medallion, and (really bummed these are gone) 3 of his hand made gargoyle heads. Anyways, just thought I’d drop a line. Rest in peace Jim, the Rumph lives on! Regards all, jw.
