There have been complaints that this message board is not very user-friendly and keeps people from posting to it. This board is not hosted at TheRumph.com, but I can put one there if you guys want me to. One side-effect is that all the posts from here will be lost and we'll have to start over.

I think whatever will get people active on these boards again will be well worth it. I've talked to board members over the phone more often than on the actual boards.

i've heard that there are several members who have been unable to log-in ever since the rumph site went down due to a hacking incident. if this is the case, i don't think they'd be able to respond to the proposal of a new msg board, nor participate in the poll. thoughts anyone? if you can't post here, please email me at jedichef@sbcglobal.net and i'll compile users and comments and forward them to the rumph webmaster, rather than have him inundated with emails. and no, i haven't got anything better to do.

Only 3 people have taken the poll? Where has everyone gone?

Only 3 people have taken the poll? looks like. i doubt it would actually make a difference at this point if there was new board or not.

i don't think so. gargoylpetes' a member here as well, though i don't know if he gets on much. from what i've heard, keep in mind it's only through the grapevine, pete came across a business that was either closed or closing which had a huge inventory of Rumphs. he bought them all up at, i'm sure, a great discount and has been puttting them up on ebay ever since. if anyone else has any insight to this story, please chime in, or pete, if you're still around, please confirm (or deny) this tale. On a personal note, i've bought quite a few items from him and i'm VERY confident that these are genuine. $80 for the Eartha is a fair price, although recently i've seen them going for less (not much), but still, less is less. i think my Eartha cost me about $65, plus shipping.

jedichef, thank you. I wasn't about casting aspersions on anyone. it was just a tad odd that someone who has been buying molds like crazy and selling multiples of a fairly collectible line might have so many of the same rare piece. but, your explanation makes sense. I am not a real collector, at this point. I only have a headless maiden and now this Eartha, so, I have some way to go to ba called a collector. Thank You for your quick reply.

I've seen some knock offs, mostly tankards, but never any of these. There's simply not enough desire to create a counterfeit market for Rumphs. Even though his stuff's never gone out of style in my humble opinion. jw

i've actually seen a few re-casts of some rumphs. but they've usually been stated as such. there have been a couple of times where they were listed as "error" or "unfinished pieces"...whole bunch of bull crap. the 'unfinished' ones that i've seen were usually white versions of his earthen-ware pieces. apparently they didn't realize that the actual clay used was the brownish color and not white clay that was then glazed or painted brown. if you're going to try to rip people off, at least have the decency to do your research and make the piece semi-believable!

HOWDY FROM MI. I HAVE A COUPLE OF PIECES FROM JIM I AM NOT TOO SURE IF THEY ARE AUTHENTIC. HOWEVER, THEY DO HAVE THE STAMP THOUGH. I HAVE SEEN VERY LITTLE LITERATURE FROM HIM. BUT FROM WHAT I VIEW, HE SEEMED MOST TALENTED!!! THE FORUM PAGE AND I DON'T SEEM TO DO WELL. IT SEEMS TO TAKE MEMBERS FOREVER TO REPLY OR EVEN TO POST. (DATES?) SO I FIGURED WHY NOT TRY THE WEBMASTER? IT REALLY IS MY PLEASURE TO TAKE SOME OF THESE TANKARDS TO THE KEGGERS AND WATCH WHICH REACTIONS OCCUR OUT OF A SOLO CUP RANGER. ANYWAYS I HIT SOME HARD TIMES WITH MY JOB & ALMOST HAD TOO SELL SOME MUGS. BUT LUCKILY I'M BACK TO WORK NOW! SO THEY STAY. WE JUST GOT DUMPED ON... 10" OF NICE SNOWBOARDING WEATHER. IT DOESN'T COME TOO OFTEN HERE. TOO BAD MY VAN IS BURIED TOO. ANYWAYS, HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY AND I HOPE THIS MAKES IT TO YOU.
